In this prequel watch we take a look at the second season of Higurashi series which answers a lot of the questions raised in the first season. In many ways I found Kai to be the true end and felt the subsequent seasons were, in essence, money grabs as entertaining as they were. If you want to get the complete story to Higurashi story then you need to watch this along with season one.

In the this part of the prequal series I will look into the first Evangelion Rebuild movie; Evangelion 1.11 You Are (Not) Alone. Released in 2007 this was supposed to be a reboot of the original Neon Genesis Evangelion. The production values in this series was outstanding and even the original movie is stunning to this day. Whilst the first two movies broadly followed the original anime series the last two take the series into entirely new territory.

In the fifth part of the prequal series I will delve into the Higurashi franchise. I will start with the original that started it all, Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni that came out all the way back in 2006. The series certainly left a mark with its style of horror and gore but behind the mindless violence was an interesting tale of mystery that kept us questioning right until the shows end. It is certainly a show worth watching although it is not for the faint of heart or kids.

In the fourth part of the prequal series I will look into Magia Records which is a side story to the renowned Madoka series. While not quite as good as its main story counterpart Magia Records was still a fairly enjoyable watch. What is more this series has the potential for its second season to eclipse the opener as most of the character exposition and backstory has been covered.

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S

Kobayashi Dragon Maid continues to go from strength to strength as the last two epi’s were actually stronger than the first two. What is more with this being a slice-of-life/comedy series you can watch the episodes in any order.

If you are a fan of Kanna, Saikawa or just maids in general then look no further than episode three because this episode is a showcase in how cute Kanna and Saikawa can be PLUS it is a brings to life the awesomeness of maids! The episode kicks off with Saikawa entering the scene and you just know where this will go next. And yes! Your expectations will be met; there are plenty of kawaii moments and with a little push from a certain someone we actually get a few wholesome moments to complement these happy scenes...

In this part of my preliminary reviews, I will be revisiting the anime I reviewed in part 1 of this series. Just to recap the anime I will be looking at are: Vanitas No Carte, All Routes Lead to Doom, The Detective Is Already Dead, Re-Main and Remake Our Life. Since I would have covered four episodes of each show this is the stage when I make a decision on whether a series should be dropped or kept. Anything that is five or below risks the chop.

Review

Season two of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is an action/fantasy isekai series that was initially released in the Winter of 2021 season. It kicks off just where the first season ended. If you have not seen season one then you must watch it otherwise you will get lost in the plot developments. At the absolute minimum you need to watch episode 24.5 which is a recap (and perhaps teaser) episode to the entire first season.

Vinland Saga season two

It has been confirmed that season two of Vinland Saga will be released! To be honest I wasn't too surprised to get this announcement but nonetheless it was a relief to hear this news seeing as some great series never get sequels. It is still early days so there is no news about when it will be released exactly so gotta keep our eyes peeled for that tidbit of news. If you hear anything though please drop a post!

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime otherwise known as Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken is a fantasy/action based isekai series which was first released in the Autumn of 2018. This show has also spawned a second season with the first part originally airing in the winter of 2021 while the second half is currently ongoing. The third part of my preliminary reviews contains what is perhaps the strongest line-up of anime series. We get the supernatural/mystery series Sonny Boy that is worth a go if you are after something different. Then there is Slime Reincarnation which is the most anticipated series of the summer. I also take a peek at Higurashi SOTSU and Scarlet Nexus going into both series blind to see if they are any good. Finally, I see how Night Head 2041; the remake to the 2006 anime Night Head Genesis is trying to see if this remake can live up or even exceed the standards set in the original.
